I attend the morning call to the rig about 8am and, after that, it’s time to send out the morning report from the previous day’s activity and track the progress of the well compared to plan. Then it’s about preparing torque, drag and hydraulics models for the next section of the current well.

In the Subsurface team, we plan for the future field development to maximise production, either by proposing a new well location or enhancing production from the existing wells which we call BPO (behind pipe opportunities).

This winter, Otaraua Hapū led a project to regenerate biodiversity at the Mangahewa Stream near Todd’s McKee Mangahewa Production Station (MMPS) carpark. Commenced by Todd Energy in 2019 with planting and fencing of the Stream margin, this integrated biodiversity project is now being conducted by Otaraua Hapū on behalf of Todd.

Located 8 km east of Inglewood, the Everett Park Scenic Reserve sits on the banks of the Manganui River. It’s a popular swimming, walking and fishing spot where many of us have happy memories playing in the river or exploring the bush.

Todd Energy recently provided 46 new competition shirts for junior players from Kaponga Soccer Club, which have proven to be a hit with the young players.

This year, four amazing students from New Plymouth Girls High School developed a mental health wellbeing journal as part of their Young Enterprise curriculum.

This winter, Waitara Central Kindy students received snuggly winter PJs donated as part of the Waitara Initiatives Supporting Employment (WISE) Trust’s annual PJ drive. 1,500 pairs of pajamas were donated, meaning 750 children will benefit as each child receives two pairs – one to fit them now, and another to grow into.

Although he may have studied mechanical, plant and chemical and process engineering at university, for Mike, a career at Todd Energy hasn’t been limited to ‘just’ the traditional engineering pathway.

Waitara Central Kindergarten caters to whānau in the Waitara community and has a role of 42 two to six year olds. Not only does the kindy provide free childcare, but it also provides free cooked meals and free pickups and drop offs for its students.

After a total of 18 years at Todd Energy, well known Todd Energy team member Louise Hamerton is moving onto greener pastures.
