Power plants
Todd Energy operates the Junction Road and McKee Power Plants in North Taranaki, which are used by Nova Energy to supply electricity during times of high demand or when other generation is not available.


Junction Road Power Plant
The 100MW Junction Road Power Plant, commissioned in 2020, is able to reach full generation capacity in 15 minutes. It is located near Junction Road (State Highway 3) in the Whalers Gate / Hillsborough area.

McKee Power Plant
The 100MW McKee Power Plant, in use since 2012, is able to reach full generation capacity in 15 minutes. It sits at the McKee Production Station along Tariki Road, east of Inglewood, in North Taranaki.

Our partnership with Ngāti Mutunga
Todd Energy has enjoyed a long and positive partnership with Ngāti Mutunga iwi. Late last year, we confirmed a three-year partnership extension with Ngāti Mutunga, enabling the continuation of some hugely important mahi, including both the existing Taramoukou conservation project and the launch of some new freshwater projects.

I attend the morning call to the rig about 8am and, after that, it’s time to send out the morning report from the previous day’s activity and track the progress of the well compared to plan. Then it’s about preparing torque, drag and hydraulics models for the next section of the current well.

Mangahewa Stream regeneration by Otaraua Hapū
This winter, Otaraua Hapū led a project to regenerate biodiversity at the Mangahewa Stream near Todd’s
McKee Mangahewa Production Station (MMPS) carpark.
Commenced by Todd Energy in 2019 with planting and fencing of the Stream margin, this integrated biodiversity project is now being conducted by Otaraua Hapū on behalf of Todd.
