In late July, some amazing students from Matapu School in south Taranaki came together with the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls to plant the whenua as part of Todd Energy’s Planting Trees for Tomorrow partnership.
The initiative, now in its second year, sees the Taranaki Rugby Football Union (TRFU) and Todd Energy working together to create opportunities for local school students to undertake riparian planting in their own community.
This year’s planting day took place on the Cleavers’ farm next to Matapu School and – despite the wintery weather – the day was hugely successful, with both the students and the players enjoying the experience of working together to have a positive impact on the environment by increasing biodiversity in their own backyard.
