Mark Macfarlane

Chief Executive Officer Todd Energy

In early 2021, Mark commenced as Chief Executive Officer of Todd Energy New Zealand and in 2022 was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Todd Energy, which included Todd Energy New Zealand and Todd Energy Canada.

Mark completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from the University of Melbourne in 1987 and joined ExxonMobil in Victoria. Over the next 10 years, Mark held a number of roles in projects, operations, planning and sub-surface in both Australia and Malaysia.

In 1997, Mark joined Santos and over the next 14 years, he held a range of management and executive roles culminating in becoming the Vice-President of Eastern Australia, before becoming CEO of Gladstone LNG based in Queensland in 2010.

In 2013, Mark joined Tullow Oil, based in Ghana, as Director, Development and Operations, and was subsequently appointed Executive Vice President, Africa, based in London. Immediately prior to joining Todd Energy, Mark held the role of Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for Tullow Oil’s HSE, exploration, operated and non-operated businesses, and commercial activities.

Brett Isenor

General Manager Marokopa

Brett has more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, having held a number of senior drilling and completion roles across the world. Before joining Todd Energy, Brett was a senior manager at Repsol and Talisman Energy, both in Canada and Malaysia, and with Shell Canada.

In his role as GM Marokopa, Brett is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all drilling, completions and well entry operations, both internally and externally, and for the development and delivery of Todd's external well services business.

Brett has a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.

Hilary Gibson

General Manager Health, Safety & Environment

Hilary is an experienced health, safety, and risk management leader with over 25 years' experience in high-risk industries, including more than a decade in the energy sector. She brings a pragmatic, people-centred approach to safety, balancing operational efficiency with compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Hilary leads the Health & Safety, Environmental, and Process Safety teams, overseeing safety strategy across Subsurface, Wells, Major Projects, Engineering, Production, and Generation. Her role also supports broader safety initiatives across Todd, driving performance, quality, and continuous improvement.

Hilary holds formal qualifications in occupational health and safety and is passionate about worker-led safety solutions that support business goals and foster lasting, positive change.

Maurice Gilmour

General Manager Operations

Taranaki born and bred, Maurice has more than 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, both locally and overseas.

Maurice started his career with the Shell BP Todd joint venture, which subsequently became Shell Todd Oil Services (STOS) in 1986, holding a number of roles in the maintenance and operations space. Since then, he has worked both on and offshore, with a particular focus on Production Team Leadership, Operations and Capability and Field Management roles.

Maurice joined Todd Energy in 2017 following the company’s acquisition of Shell’s 50% of the Kapuni natural gas field, and was appointed to the role of General Manager, Production and Maintenance, in 2021. In his current role, Maurice is responsible for leading all energy operation teams across Todd Energy and Nova Energy to ensure safe and efficient production across all of Todd's energy assets.

Matt Kuriger

General Manager Projects & Engineering

Matt has more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, including 12 years with Todd Energy in a variety of engineering and project roles. Prior to joining Todd Energy, Matt worked for engineering consultancy Intecsea, based in London, undertaking offshore subsea engineering design for major oil and gas projects across Europe and Africa.

In his current role, Matt is responsible for leading facilities development, asset engineering and delivery of capital projects for Todd Energy and Nova Energy.

Matt has as Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Canterbury and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Nick O'Dea

General Manager Drilling and Completion Engineering

Nick has spent 20 years in the oil and gas industry, holding a variety of engineering and operational leadership roles. Before joining Todd, Nick worked for Halliburton in a variety of locations, including New Zealand, Libya, West Africa (based in Ghana) and South East Asia.

In his role as GM Drilling and Completion Engineering, Nick is responsible for leading the planning and engineering of all well activities (drilling and completion of new wells, well intervention, and workovers) to deliver to the company and reservoir development strategy.

Nick has a Bachelor of Chemical and Process Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Canterbury.

Amanda Bayliss

Group Manager People and Culture Business Partnering 

Amanda is an experienced People and Culture professional with over 10 years at Todd, partnering with leaders to build teams aligned with the organisational strategy.

In her role, Amanda sits in both the Todd Energy and Nova leadership teams to bring a collaborative, on-the-ground approach to all people and culture-related activities. At Todd Energy, Amanda leads the business partnering team that works with leaders to execute remuneration, recruitment, talent and succession and engagement initiatives as well as employment relations.

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University, with a double major in Management and Human Resource Management.

Stu Barraclough

Senior Legal Counsel and Commercial Manager

Stu has more than 12 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. Before joining Todd Energy in 2016, Stu worked at Taranaki law firm Govett Quilliam, which included a two-year secondment to Origin Energy.

Stu’s role as in-house counsel includes Crown Minerals Act expertise and working on M&A transactions, such as Todd Energy’s purchase of the Kapuni Production Station in 2017 and Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant in 2020, and Todd’s sale of its Canadian oil and gas business in 2024. In 2022, Stu added the Commercial Manager role to his duties, which includes the sale of condensate liquids and liquid CO2, Joint Venture representative, and ad-hoc commercial projects as they arise.

Stu holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration (majoring in accounting) from Victoria University in Wellington.

Mark Laird

General Manager Subsurface

Mark has over 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, specialising in petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and asset management. His career spans field, technical, and managerial roles across Australia and New Zealand, working on a range of assets from exploration through to development. He has delivered key development and appraisal programmes and led the management of reserves across both operated and non-operated assets.

As GM Subsurface, Mark oversees the strategic development and reservoir management of Todd Energy’s operated and non-operated assets. He leads a multidisciplinary team focused on maximising asset value through integrated hydrocarbon maturation, field development planning, and innovative reservoir strategies.

Mark holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Canterbury.

Adam Fleming

Group Manager Finance Business Partnering

Adam is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of financial accounting and planning experience, of which more than 15 years have been spent in the energy industry. Before joining Todd in 2012, Adam held roles at EDF Energy in the UK and at Deloitte in New Zealand.

As Group Manager of Finance Business Partnering for Todd Energy, Adam is responsible for providing financial insight and control for Todd Energy, whilst also supporting the broader Todd group. 

Adam holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons), majoring in accounting, from Lincoln University.
